Startups Repo is operated by Nick Kioko, based in Nairobi, Kenya. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use the Platform.

• Name and email address (when you create an account)
• Startup name, description, sector, stage, country, website, and logo
• Founder story, key insight, traction data, needs, and newsworthy updates (submitted via listing form)
• Any other information you voluntarily provide

• Usage data — pages visited, time spent, clicks, search queries
• Device and browser information
• IP address and approximate location
• Referral source (how you found us)

If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email address from Google in accordance with their privacy policy.

We use the information we collect to:

• Create and manage your founder account
• Publish and maintain your startup listing on the Platform
• Review submissions for quality and accuracy
• Send you account-related emails including magic links, approval notifications, and monthly check-in prompts
• Generate content about listed startups for our social media channels (using the story and traction data you submit)
• Improve the Platform and understand how people use it
• Communicate with you about updates to the Platform or these policies
• Share relevant startup data with verified investors who access the Platform (see Section 5)

Where data protection law requires a legal basis for processing, we rely on:

• Contract — processing necessary to provide the services you've signed up for
• Legitimate interests — operating and improving the Platform, creating content about listed startups
• Consent — where you have explicitly agreed, such as opting into investor visibility

You can request to change your visibility preferences at any time by contacting us.

We do not sell your personal information. We may share it with:

• Service providers — hosting, email, analytics tools that help us operate the Platform (e.g. Supabase, Resend, Vercel). These providers process data on our behalf under appropriate data protection agreements.
• Verified investors — access to private listing data is granted only to investors we have verified, and only where founders have opted in.
• Law enforcement or regulators — if required by applicable law or legal process.

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account or request removal of your listing, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required by law to retain it longer.

Usage data and analytics may be retained in aggregated, anonymised form indefinitely.

Depending on where you are located, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate or incomplete information
• Request deletion of your personal information
• Object to or restrict certain types of processing
• Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent

The Platform is not directed at children under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, contact us and we will delete it promptly.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify registered founders of material changes by email. The date at the top of this page reflects when the Policy was last updated.
